January 18-March 1, 2014

Ruth Bachofner Gallery
2525 Michigan Ave, Suite G2
Santa Monica, CA 90404

Faist's current exhibition at Ruth Bachofner continues her discipline of layering colors, glazes and patterns.  This process is proceeded by a final layer of epoxy resin.  The patterns that are seen through the pieces are derived from clothing patterns.  This current series is a tribute to her mother's fashion legacy.  A visual nostalgia is permanently encased in epoxy.

Faist's work is an example of how artists will puzzle out their personal experiences and influences as seeds for their artwork.  Faist recalls an early "bikini" pattern as an element for her work.  Like the Egyptians, Faist's work is concerned with preservation of content and the finesse of labor by layering and sanding of paint.
